At the Center of All Beauty continues to receive praise from reviewers and readers. Kathryn Hughes, writing for The New York Times Book Review, calls ATCOAB a “lyrical yet finely argued book,” that manages to get at a “common denominator” in the lives of its subjects without reducing them: “the deeper [Fenton] looks, the more distinct each of his emblematic figures becomes.”  [pdf]
